Ramayan Circuit (Punaura Dhaam)- Sita Mata Birth Place, Sitamadhi, BIHAR.

👉 IF we talk about Sanatan Hindu culture, almost everybody knows about RAMAYANA Story like how was Lord RAM, HANUMAN, RAVAN etc. and incidents related with them. But very few people knows about Mother SITA story and her birth place.

So today's article will be on this only. Let's begin..🙏

Long back in Treta Yug, there was a king of  Videha (modern day Mithila) called King JANAK. There was a Yagna to be performed in his kingdom for ritual purpose(there was big drought) king JANAK has to perform the ploughing in the field. It is said that during Ploughing he found a baby girl in the casket. He adopted that girl called her SITA and brought her to Janakpur, capital city of his kingdom. Later she grew up there and married to Lord RAM. Rest of the story is pretty much popular and common among all Hindus as well as other communities as well. If you want to more lots of articles are already present on internet or else you can refer books that will be better. But make sure read from authentic sources, lots of manipulation is happening these days. For reference we all know Geeta press Gorakhpur is having quality books.

Lord RAM has visited almost all over todays' INDIA and Parts of SRILANKA during his Exile of 14 years. All these places comes under RAMAYAN CIRCUIT. So this is a story of mine in one of the RAMAYAN Circuit. In BIHAR there is a place called SITAMADHI (part of Mithila) which is known as the Birth place of Mata SITA. I visited there recently with one of my Friend. It is the month of July and the day was very sunny. But it was not planned to go to Sitamadhi directly. We first visited Ahilya sthan (border between Darbhanga and Sitamadhi dist.) which is also a part of Ramayan Circuit. This place is known for the incident where Ahilya got free from curse by Lord RAM (well known story).

So, we went to the place where Ahilya got freed by Lord RAMA and at present several temples were build around the campus and a pond is also present to take bath before Visiting the temple.  We also visited Gautam Rishi's (Ahilya's Husband) hut where he used to reside that is almost 4km away from Ahilya's place of salvation. Attaching few pics clicked during the visit. Temple looks good although it is not maintained as it should be. Also this is the only place in India where Female sage (pandit) is offering rituals and let other do and this ritual is continued since ages. She is more than 100+ years as said by the locals. There is a custom: If you are having ahila (warts) in your body you should come to this place take a bath in the pond(Ahilya sthan kund) and take eggplant sticks and offer them. You will get rid from those Ahila/warts.

Now after we spent proper time over Ahilya sthan, we proceeded towards Gautam Rishi's Hut which is 4 km away from the place(Ahilya sthan). There was a big temple built with idols of Gautam rishi, lord Ganesh, Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman. Also there is Panch Kund(pond) and it is said to be created by the arrows of Lord RAM and Laxman during his visit to Rishi's Hut.

Now we headed towards, Sitamadhi which is about 55KM away from Ahilya Sthan . After a drive of one and half hours we reached Janki temple, Punaura Dham(Known for the birth place of Mata SITA).

The campus of Main Janki Temple Punaura Dham is big and you can find various small temple inside apart from main temple and a sita kund (Pond) which is the place of Sita Mata birth (that time it was field where Raja JANAK was ploughing). Some part of mithila is spread till today's NEPAL. So some people also say  Mata Sita was born there but the fact is today's Sitmadhi was also a part of Videh (Mithila) she was founded here and brought to Janakpur, Nepal where king lives in his capital Janakpur.
